Product development with a practical side
I’m John Steflik, founder of Fuel Design Works. Based in Kansas, I help turn ideas into things people can see, understand, and test.
My work brings together product development and visual communication. That can mean building a CAD model, making a working prototype, creating a realistic product render, or showing how a mechanism works through animation.
I enjoy the space where creative thinking meets a practical challenge. How will this part fit? How will someone use it? Can it be simpler to make? Those questions guide the work from the first conversation.
From an idea to something you can test
An early idea doesn’t need every detail figured out. Sometimes, a rough sketch and a clear problem are enough to get started.
I use CAD and physical prototypes to explore shape, fit, and function. Each step gives us something more useful to review. It can reveal tight clearances, awkward assemblies, or details that need a different approach before production.
The goal is to learn early and make better decisions about what comes next.
Making the details clear
A good product also needs a clear story. My background in graphic design and marketing helps me connect technical details with what people need to understand.
Using photo-realistic rendering, animation, and video, I create visuals that show materials, explain movement, and make complex ideas easier to follow. These tools can also help teams present a product before finished photography is available.
Let’s talk about your idea
Fuel Design Works brings these skills together in one place. I lead the work directly, so you have one point of contact across product development, prototyping, and visualization. You can bring a focused task or a challenge that spans several stages.
You do not need every detail worked out before getting in touch. Bring the question you are stuck on, along with any sketches, CAD files, or prototypes you already have. Let’s work out the next useful step.
